'Schoolhouse Rock' brings TV treat to stage

By Vanessa McGrady

If you learned about cool from the Fonz and crime-fighting from the Scooby Doo gang, chances are you learned about grammar, history and basic science from "Schoolhouse Rock."

Th Emmy-winning animated spots began airing in the 1970s, and educated an entire generation with lovable characters and catchy tunes.
ReAct Theatre brings the stage version to the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center Thursday, March 14th through Sunday, April 7. The old songs -- think "Conjunction Junction," "I'm Just a Bill," "Lolly Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here" and "Interjections" --many of which have taken permanent residency in the collective Generation-X psyche, are a major part of the performance.

ReAct is a professional non-profit theatre company that uses proceeds to benefit humanitarian and arts organizations.

Tickets cost $18 for general admission, $15 for seniors, $12 for students, military and theatre artists. A can of food nets a $1 discount.
